Stopping automatic page calc in preview
When I make my summary or footer too long and try to preview RB(10) builds a
huge number of pages and I cannot stop it. It has been running 20 minutes
now with no end in sight. a) how can I stop this calculation b) how do I
know when I have exceeded the page bounds in the future?

Which version of ReportBuilder are you using? RB 10+ now includes a more
sophisticated designer that warns you in most cases if there could be an
infinite page result.

After 8000+ pages I had to kill Delphi 7 using Task Mgr. This has happened
5 times and is v. frustrating.
It happens when I make my summary band too high and ( I guess) it encroaches
on the footer.
I have to use trial and error to get it right. If in error I get the loop!
Seems RB should be able to help me avoid something like that or at least
give me the math to calculate when I might be in jeopardy. Or at the very
least provide the ability to press escape to stop the page calculation.
Be sure you are using RB 10.03. There was an issue with canceling a report
with some earlier versions of RB 10 that has now been addressed. If you set
the SummaryBand.PrintHeight to phDynamic, it will break across the bottom of
the page if it is too large. This will help you get the right size without
causing an infinite page report.

Thanks for your responses. You have a great product and I look forward to
getting these items resolved.
I already have Summary band set to Dynamic but have 10.02 so need to
download 10.03. On your site I only see trial downloads. Please provide
the link for pro 10.03.
Also, I would like to do something different on the last page of a report
other than use the Summary band. So I need to know:
How do I determine that I am on the last page of a report that has both
footer and summary bands defined.?
An example would be helpful too.

If you create a two pass report, you can easily determine the last page of a
report using the TppReport.AbsolutePageCount and TppReport.AbsolutePageNo.
Comparing these two values in the OnStartPage event would let you know when
you reach the last page.
