Resize detail area
In the report designer, how do I resize the detail area according to the
displayed data? For example, in my detail area I have several text boxes
that are always visible, and I have two Regions that are only visible if
data is in the database. I have the code setup to not display those regions
if data is unavailable. The problem is that it leaves a lot of white space
between records. If I right-click on the detail area it is set for
DynamicHeight.

Be sure the regions have their Stretch property set to True. Is there
anything else inside the detail band besides the regions and items inside
the regions? Are you by chance loading templates?
