temporaer files
Hi,
Reportbuilder is generating temporaery files.
Sometimes we get the message from customersthat an error occurs
like file structure error. To less diskspace C:\..
The rtm files and the exe are placed on a server and the print
is done on a client which starts the exe from the server by shortcut.
My question is on which place does Reportbuilder generate the
tempor?ry files? On Server or on Client?
The free space on Server is 4 GB and the free space on client 24 GB.
Can the tempor?ry files bigger than 4 GB or do i have to search for
other reasons?
thanks
K.R.

- When using RB Server Edition to build multi-tier reporting solutions, temp
files are used by the Server and the Client/WebTier to cache pages.
- check the Windows\Temp directory and the user account temp directory (for
example, on my machine it is
C:\Documents and Settings\nmoseley\Local Settings\Temp - replace the
nmoseley with your user account name).
- the file naming convention has a prefix of rsd and rsp, so search for
rs*.tmp
- try cleaning up those two directories.
- the Server and WebTier also maintain Logs. Check the LogSettings
properties for each of the components.
- the WebTier caches user session content. See the WebToier.CacheDirectory
property.
None of the cache files should be taking up much disk space.
