OPOS Printerdriver

edited February 2007 in General
Hello,

We have a customer who has a printer which prints too slow with the default
windows driver (POS printer so speed is very important). Now he wants us to
use the printer via an OPOS printerdriver. Is it possible in ReportBuilder
to use such a driver?

I've tried to use a Generic/text printerdriver and then the printer prints
fast as it should, only using the default printerdriver it is too slow.

I don't have any experience with this kind of drivers but maybe
reportbuilder has a feature to use them?

We use Delphi 6 and ReportBuilder 7.04.

Tanks in advance,

    Hi Wim,

It is my understanding that an OPOS driver is the standard POS driver used
by Micorsoft and other common POS printer companies. ReportBuilder does not
communicate with the printer driver directly, it uses generic Windows API
commands to gather information and give instructions to the print driver
which then communicates with the printer. Have you tried using the OPOS
driver with ReportBuilder? I would assume that it would support Windows API
commands and should work without any problems.
