Moving from Quickreports

edited June 2007 in General
To whom it may concern.

I recently started work at a company that are still using Quickreports, (it
is an absolute nightmare).
Is there an automated (or even semi automated way) of moving the 100 or so
reports over to reportbuilder were I to buy a licence (professional).

    Hi Schalk,

I believe Waler has a utility that converts QuickReports to RB reports.

    http://www.waler.com

If this is insufficient, take a look at the following article on converting
reports from Crystal. The same ideas apply.

Article: Convert Crystal Reports to ReportBuilder.
    --------------------------------------------------

We do not have any automated conversion from Crystal Reports. However, most
customers find that converting existing reports to ReportBuilder requires
much less time than they imagined. Following the steps below should provide
a good estimate of the amount of time and experience that is required.

    1. Spend some time going over RB Developer's Guide. This is an excellent
first step to learning how ReportBuilder works.

    2. Work through the tutorials and demos provided in the Developers Guide
and in the ReportBuilder installation. These give you hands on experience
on how to implement the most important features of ReportBuilder. They will
also give you a good idea exactly what ReportBuilder is capable of.

    3. Pick a representative sampling of your reports and implement them in
    RB.

Below is a list of the locations you can find the resources described above:

    - RB Developer's Guide: \RBuilder\Developer's Guide\...

    - RB Demo Applications: \RBuilder\Demos\...

    - RB Tutorials: \RBuilder\Tutorials\...

AFAICR James Whaler (www.waler.com) had something a while ago. I don't see
it on his web site--you may send him an email and ask.
