Save to file Ellispes Kills application with No Errors

edited July 2007 in General
Hello maybe someone can help me. I have customer in Australia and
something weird is happening to his system when trying to save a report
developed by report builder. The user checks print to file, and then
choose a file format, and then he clicks on the ellipse button to
browse his directories. Once he clicks on the button, the software
closes down without a warning or errors. No report builder errors
either. We have many customers using the same application and version
and this does not happen. He is using an XP Professional machine,
Report Builder Enterprise Edition Version 10.04. In Australian Windows
setting. Has anyone seen this happen before or can be some insight as
to what might be happening.

    Hi Semone,

This is not a known issue. Does this occur every time your user tries to
export to a file? Are you able to recreate this on any of your machines?

Yes it occurs every time for them. And they are the only ones its
happening to. I haven't been able to recreate it on my machine or any
other customers machine. The one unique thing is, they are in Australia
and use that windows setting. I am going to also send this post on the
devices thread of the news group

    Hi Semone,

Please understand that it is next to impossible for us to track down an
issue that we are unable to recreate on our machines here. One option you
might try is to upgrade to the latest version of ReportBuilder (10.06) and
see if that makes a difference. This would be a free upgrade. Contact
    info@digital-metaphors.com for upgrade instructions.

I understand that, Is it possible the reports could have gotten
corrupted? And thanks for your help.

    Hi Semone,

I'm honestly not sure what exactly could be causing this behavior, we have
not had any other reports of behavior like this. Since it is happening with
every report, I would not think a corrupt report were the cause however you
might try sending them a new template to load and test with. You might also
try sending them a minimal example app (Delphi form with an empty report and
button) to see if you can isolate the problem.

    Hi
Try disabling Norton A/V and also Windows Defender.
    I had a client had a similar issue with a standard opendialog/savedialog
component and it just kept hanging the system everytime they clicked on an
ellipse and tried to bring up a "certain" save file dialog.
    See how you go
    Cheers
    Dominic
