emailing a pdf with Outlook 2007

edited September 2007 in General
Has anyone else had used Outlook 2007 to email a pdf report? It doesn't work
here and it crashes Outlook. I only have Office 2007 installed on one
computer (not my development one), so it's possible there's something else
going on, but before I install Office 2007 anywhere else, I thought I'd ask.
Thanks.

    Hi Sue,

Which version of ReportBuilder and Delphi are you using? Also, which
version of Windows are you running? Are you using the built-in email
feature included with RB? If so, which email plugin are you using to send
the reports with Outlook? Do you see this behavior every time you try to
send an email with RB? Are you able to successfully run the Email demo
located in the \RBuilder\Demos\1. Reports\... directory? In my quick
testing with Outlook 2007 and the demo, I was able to get it to successfully
    send using the MAPI plugin.

I'm using BDS 2006 with RB 10.06 on Windows XP. I am using the built-in
email feature of RB, and the built-in PDF writing as well, and I was very
impressed with how well they worked with so little effort on my part! I must
be using the default MAPI plugin, as I haven't changed it. So far Outlook
2007 has crashed every time I've tried to send email with a reportbuilder
report. The demo does the same thing.

Or rather, it did the first time I ran it. I think I must be experiencing
the "expert phenomenon" now - you know, where as soon as you get an expert
involved, everything starts to work. ;-) I ran the demo a second time to see
if the program crashed too (that was happening yesterday) and it worked! And
now my own program is working too. I haven't changed a thing since
yesterday, so go figure. I did get a popup question from the Windows
firewall just now, so maybe that's what was broken yesterday. And a reboot
overnight didn't hurt either. Anyway, thanks. :-)

Well, I guess I have to retract the All is Well. Sigh. I've discovered that
if I try to email a report with Outlook 2007 loaded, Outlook closes without
emailing. But if I start with Outlook not open, it works just fine. I don't
know if or when we'll be widely deploying Outlook 2007, so this is working
    well enough for now.
