Vista problem?

edited January 2008 in General
Hi;

im using D7 ent w/RB 6.03 server...

i have an application that is sending "Access Violation" error on a Windows
Vista Home Basic computer...

the same application on XP pro is working fine, the same application on the
developer's computer (w/Vista Home Preimium) is working fine too.

The error occurs when the user selects to print the report on the preview
form, it shows the access violation error, the user clicks on the dialog's
button and then selects the printer and prints his report. So, actually the
user can print reports, but the error dialog is annoying.

Any ideas to solve it?

TIA

    Hi Willo,

We primarily use Vista as our operating system and have not seen this error
before. Are you able to recreate this issue on any other machines? Have
the user try to print to a different printer and see if the error still
occurs. If possible, try tracing into the RB source when the error occurs.
Any other information you can give us about the error and how to recreate it
    would be helpful as well.

I recommend updating from RB 6.03 to RB 10. That should resolve the issue.

    RB 10 includes support for D6, D7, D2005, D2006, D2007.

You can download a trial version from our web site.

    Article: ReportBuilder and Windows Vista
    -----------------------------------------

Windows Vista requires that an application has administrator rights in order
to write to files on most of the hard disk (with the exception of the
    \Users\ area.)

To run Delphi as an administrator, you will need to either right click over
the shortcut and select "Run as Administrator", or you can do so permanently
by selecting the "Run Program as Administrator" checkbox in the
"Compatibility" tab of the bds.exe or delphi32.exe file's properties dialog.

Please note that this is a temporary solution to a problem that will be
addressed for a later release of ReportBuilder. We have not officially
released a Windows Vista compliant version of ReportBuilder.
