Terminal server Easy Print

Hi,
have you some experiences with printing from ReportBuilder with TS Easy
Print (Windows 2008 service)?
We have problem with it - this combination generates huge print jobs (~10 -
100 MB) in case of printing
to local printer. If we stop TS Easy Print service and install driver for
printer, print job is about kB...

Hi Roman,

We do not have any direct experience with TS Easy Print. What happens if
you export the report to PDF then try to print it? Do you still get the
same behavior? How about if you print a similarly complex document from
Microsoft Word?

Perhaps some other customers that use this service will chime in with their
experiences.

Hi,
we tried to print directly from ReportBuilder, export from ReportBuilder to
PDF and print PDF and print from MS Word.

ReportBuilder -> printer : 6 MB
ReportBuilder -> PDF -> printer: 450 kB.
MS Word -> printer: 500 kB (small in every cases)

Which version of ReportBuilder are you using? Be sure you are using the

Hi Nico,

I have the same trouble as Roman with incredibly slow and huge print jobs
through Terminal Server Easy Print (Easy Print is the new printing system
for Terminal Services on Windows 2008 Server). A simple, text only, 2-page
document is over 11 Meg and takes more than five minutes to print.

BTW, I'm using 10.04 Enterprise and would gladly upgrade to version 11 if it
fixes this problem. Do you know whether or not 11.08 specifically addresses
the Easy Print issue? If you could compile a simple app with a sample 11.08
report that I could test that would be great.

Hi Mike,

There was nothing specific to Easy Print added for RB 11.08 however we have
made a number of enhancements dealing with printer logic and stability since
version 10.04 that may solve any issues you are having. My suggestion would
be to download a trial copy of RB 11.08 from our web site and test with
that.

Hi Nico,

As you suggested, I downloaded the 11.08 demo version and tested with that.
Unfortunately, the problem remains with Terminal Server Easy Print (huge,
very slow print jobs.)

Do you know whether version 12 would have any new changes that might address
this problem?
