CrossTab and Row dimension hiding

edited August 2010 in General
Hello,

1) I need to hide a Row dimension like you did it in the ct117.rtm from
the crosstab demo. But I didn't catch the trick how you did this.
Preview this report in the IDE RB designer shows the State and City Rows...

Preview the report with the demo.exe hides the State and City cols.
I want to do something similar...

2) In the crosstab designer we can specify the kind of sort for each row
dimension. But this seems to have no effects !
Sorting seems to always happen on the first row dimension...
The OnCompareDimensionValues event seems also there for a kind of
sorting, but seems to be never called !

How can I do a sort on specific row dimension ?
Note : even if I use a query with is sorted how I want it, the crosstab
sorts by the first row...

Thanks.

Best regards

Frédéric

    Hi Frédéric,

Which version of ReportBuilder and Delphi are you currently using?

    1. Simply right click the dimension and select the "Visible" option.

    2. I'm a bit unclear about what exactly you would like to sort on. Sorting
is available for each outer row or column dimension value, not the value
dimension (see the help for TppElement for a diagram of a Crosstab). In my
testing with the latest version of ReportBuilder and the Crosstab demos,
sorting seemed to function correctly. Are you able to recreate this
behavior with one of the demos? If so let me know the steps I can take to
    see the error.

    Hi Frédéric,

Sorry for the misunderstanding. It is not possible to hide the row or
column dimensions of the Crosstab. With the current implementation, it is
only possible to hide the total and subtotal values.

ReportBuilder 11 introduced the "no sort" option for Crosstabs. This can be
set using the appropriate button in the toolbar when clicked on a dimension
element (right of the "Sort Desc" button). You could use this option if you
wish to omit a row field (essentially hiding it).

    Hello Nico,

The 'no sort' have no influence for hiding a row or not.
Check the demo, you can change the sort order, this will not change the
    hiding state !

    What happens ?

    Hi Frédéric,

    Perhaps I misunderstood your question.

The sorting options will not affect the visibility capability in any way,
they simply control how the rows or columns are sorted. It is currently not
possible to hide the row or column dimensions in the crosstab component. I
will add this capability as a possible enhancement for a later release of
    ReportBuilder.

    Hello,

I perhaps misunderstood your answer but this is what you wrote
    (essentially hiding it):

    It is
But you did it in the demo !!!! See ct117.rtm, ct118.rtm, ct119.rtm !
You can see the rows state and city are invisible in the preview.. I
want to do exactly the same thing !

    Regards

    Frédéric
