New Blog Posts: Merging Reports - Part 1 and Part 2

Moving Main Report Contents to a Subreport component.

edited September 2010 in General
Hi,

I have designed a report within Reportbuilder that contains subreports,
sections, etc.

A client of mine has just requested that the report be modified to
include a trailing page with static text.

In order to do this, I believe the best approach is to have a report
with 2 subreports in it - the first one being my current report, and the
second one being the single 'trailing' page?

If so - I was wondering, is there an easy way to transfer my current
'report' into a 'subreport' of a new report, saving me having to redo
the whole report?

Or is there a more efficient way of adding a fixed trailing page to my
report?

Thanks & Regards

Adam.

    Hi Adam,

One option would be to save your current report to file (.rtm), then load
the template inside a section subreport.

Using section subreports the way you mention is definitely the most
efficient way to keep sections of the report separate. This allows you to
easily alter certain sections in the future without affecting other parts of
    the report.
