Report field not showing up in preview.

I have a report that has a master pipeline and a detail pipeline
(ppMaster & ppDetail).

In the report designer, if I put a subreport on the report, then the
detail (which in this case is only one line), shows up correctly.
However, if I just put a DBText component on and point it to the detail
file, the value shows up in the editor, but when previewing the value
goes away (I know this is not the correct way to do it, but I am trying
to make certain reports backwardly compatible). The report worked like
this in version 7.x but will not work in version 11.08.

Any ideas how to fix

Hi Jeff,

This is likely a data issue. The DBText you mention, which pipeline is
it connected to? Are you certain there is a detail record for the
master? Is the DBText being placed in the main report's Detail band or
a subreport's. I need more information about how this report is
designed and what it is meant to look like when printed.
