Print Range Error

edited September 2002 in End User
Hi,

I'm having a problem with an end user report. My client reports that
every time he tries to print his report, he gets a "print range error"
message. He states that he does not even get the print dialog to choose
the destination printer.

I've tried to duplicate the problem on two of my computers, but with no
luck. However, he uses windows XP, which I do not have ready access
to. Could there be a compatibility problem with XP?

I'm using RB 6 with Delphi 4.

Thanks!
rob

Can you reproduce the problem on his machine using a demo report from
ReportBuilder demos? First, have him install the latest printer driver that
is available from the printer manufacturer's website. I have XP. What is
the printer model that is causing the problem? I can install the driver and
    test it.

    Jim,

Okay....Well.......I just found out what he failed to tell me before. He has no
printer! Not as bad as it sounds. I included the TExtraDevices--he's trying to
    print to an html file.

I guess the lack of a printer could be the root of the problem. Still, a "print
range error" error surprises me given the situation. Not at all a meaningful
    message.

Set Report.PrinterName to screen and it should use the screen canvas for
measuring instead of the default printer canvas. What is the printer model
that he has installed as the default on that machine? I can install the
driver and try to reproduce the error.
