Report Explorer extensions?

edited August 2003 in End User
I really like the RBServer ability to return to the client report
explorer a mixture of report types, rtm files, eur reports, and form
based reports. Is there a way to add form reports to the EUR report
explorer? Of course and example would be terrific.

Thanks,
Dave

No, the regular end user Report Explorer relies only on a database. It is
not as flexible as the Client Reprot Explorer. If you want to surface form
based reports, then you'll have to use the Client Report Explorer. It is
more flexible because the user will never know where the reports are coming
from:) You don't have to run a report server across the web, you could do it
locally on a private network. Most likely there will not be a noticable loss
in speed when generating reports because the data access would have to come
across the network anyway and the report page generation is very fast. I
would recommend using a thin client approach (Client Report Explorer) and
then it would also allow you to later on publish some reports across the web
if your customers desired to do so.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
The only problem is that the reports are sometimes context sensitive to
what the user is viewing and we would like to combine the special
reports with the database reports in one interface.
I'll see if I can send the sql through the server parameters for those
    reports.

    Thanks,
    Dave
