Graphics Printing

edited January 2003 in Devices
We are having problems when printing graphics such as a letterhead logo in
.bmp format. The report comes out fine except the graphics box is either
blank or totally black. We are usiing enterprise version 5.1 with Windows XP
Pro and HP laserjets. Have the correct and latest HP drivers installed. Also
tried older drivers without success. We have seen the same problem on
different HP models.

Try toggling the DirectDraw property on the image component and see if that
helps. Make sure Transparent is also set the false on the image component.

The direct draw property did not help.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

the same problem came up at a customer here last weeks, too.
We are running the printing-software on two PCs, one has NT4 installed, the
    other one 2000.
Both bring up this problem, imagebox is always fully black, directdraw did
    not help here either.
This is getting us into trouble, so any idea would be a help.

    Thanks

Transparency must be set to false for the best chance to print an image on
some printers. Are there any other printers which do print those images from
RB? Can you try an HP LaserJet 4 driver? We have had reports in the past
where resources were eaten up by the printer driver and the images come out
black/blank Can you send us a simple demo project with the images that
don't print and we can test them here. Send it to
    support@digital-metaphors.com

Transparency is always set to false. We did see the same result with the HP
Laserjet 4 driver. This usually happens (99% of the time) on a local
printer and not a network printer. Changing the resolution to 300 dpi helps
but does not eliminate the problem. I can send you a sample demo project but
the problem is that it does not happen every time we print.

Feel free to send the project to us and we'll print the image reports.
Approximately, how soon would the images begin this problematic behavior
    once printing begins?

Actually, the product is built-in to another software product and is used
for printing forms such as purchase orders or invoices. The graphic that we
have trouble with is our letterhead graphic which appears on every form. I
do not believe a test project would be feasible from this environment. I
think you were correct about the resources being eaten up by the printer
    driver.

We have also experienced problems at two different sites, with a black box
being printed instead of a logo.

We were trying to print to a Minolta at one site and it would work fine from
    Windows XP,
but always printed a black box from Win98.

At the second site, we were printing from Win98 to HP which printed the
    black box as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first option is to toggle the DirectDraw property of the report image
component. Make sure Transparent is set to false as well on the image
component. Also update to the latest printer driver possible from the
    printer manufacturer.
