PDF Output unreasonably large

edited June 2006 in Devices
I am using a report template with JPG embedded images (total approx 120Kb).
When exporting the report to PDF at runtime, the file size is 2.5MB.

I can't figure out why the PDF is blowing up so much especially since the
images sizes are small. Without using images, the PDF file size is 2Kb.

I am using the native report device in RB 9.03. Any help with be greatly
appreciated.

Many thanks,
Ravi.

When exporting to PDF the JPG is converted to a bitmap. That is why you are
    seeing the size increase.

    - one solution might be to decrease the resolution of the images that you
    using

    - another solution might be to investigate whether any of the avilable third
party export devices have have a more advanced image export capabilities for
PDF. You could ask their tech support or download their trial versions and
    test.

    Hi Ravi,

As Nard suggested, please do check out eDocEngine ;-).

We do support very good compression for images and other content.
