PDF output - Adobe version
I am outputting a report to a PDF file and emailing it to a distribution list.
Recently some people on the list have been issued with PDA phones. When they
open the PDF file on the PDA some parts of the file are unreadable.
The client's IT department tell me the file is in version 4 format. They have
used some tool to upgrade the file to version 5. The file is then readable on
the PDA.
I am using RB 9.03. Is there a later version of RB which outputs to PDF in a
more recent format?

ReportBuilder outputs PDF version 1.3 and meets all the specifications given
in the PDF Reference manual provided by Adobe. According to Adobe, all
versions are backward compatable as well. The PDF Device for RB was built
and tested with Acrobat Reader 5 and Windows XP. We recommend using Acrobat
Reader 5 or greater.
Which parts of the PDF are unreadable? Which version of Acrobat Reader are
you currently using? What tool is your IT department using to upgrade the
existing PDF files? I could possibly find out what changes are being made
and see if I can add something similar to ReportBuilder.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I couldn't see the effect and only have a
verbal description. I think the problem area is a region containing a stretching
DBMemo. They see the region with its border but when they zoom in the text is
unreadable.
They normally upgrade all their clients to the latest version of Adobe. That is
on their desktops where everything appears fine. I'm not sure what is on a PDA.
I believe the IT people sent the original file to a PDF printer and then sent
the output from that to the PDA.
I'll get back to my client with your response and see if I can get more information.
