Printer Tray Selection

edited December 2010 in Devices
We have a client who has just replaced their printer with a Kyocera FS3920DN
printer

From the report preview they click the print button and use the preferences
to select Tray 2 but the report always comes out of Tray 1.

If the program generates a PDF the tray selection works ok printing from
acrobat. The tray selection also works from other applications

They have tried every driver and still get the same, currently installed is
the "Classic PCL driver (certified and signed by Microsoft)"

Development Environment: Delphi 7
Reportbulder Version: Reportbuilder 9.03
Client OS: Windows XP

    Hi Steve,

This was not an issue with RB 9.03. Does this happen with every printer you
try to switch the bin or just this specific printer?

It worked with their previous printer and I have tried here on a HP4000 and
    that works too.

Its since they changed printer to the Kyocera FS3920DN.

The problem ONLY exists when printing from reportbuilder. All other
applications tested it works ok (including the same report as a pdf from
    acrobat reader).

    Hi Steve,

Since this only occurs with one printer, it is most likely a printer driver
issue. For some reason this driver does not like the way ReportBuilder is
changing the bin (RB uses generic Win API commands to do so which all
    drivers should honor).

My first suggestion would be to use a different or updated driver. Perhaps
    something created by Kyocera?

Secondly, you might try downloading a trial copy of RB 12.03 and testing
with that. We made some fairly large changes to the Printer logic for
versions after RB 9 and they might remedy the problem.
