PDF Forms

edited February 2015 in Devices
Hi

I have just upgraded to RB16.01 Ent using Delphi XE7. One of the new
features i am interested in is interactive PDF form fields and checkboxes.
I am however struggling to find out how they work. I cannot find anything
in rbWiki or the help files and am struggling to get the demos working in
case there is anything there. Can anyone give me some guidance.

Thanks

    Hi Tim,

The PDF form fields are available with the Label and Checkbox
components. They are controlled by the Label.FormField and
Checkbox.FormField property. Setting this property to True, will export
the Label or Checkbox as a form field in PDF.

Take a look at the following article and example on the RB Wiki for more
    information.

Thanks for that. This is a very useful addition and something that i will
    use.

Do you have plans to extend the Pdf Form options or is it likely to be
limited to what you have done? At the moment i am generating pdf files
using ReportBuilder and using GNostice to add Text and Checkboxes to the
form TOGETHER with a Pushbutton that allows the form to be emailed back to a
specified url in xml format (Gnostice give the option of pdf or html as
well). This way i am able to readily automate the collection of data from
users. With your new pdf form options i now only have to use Gnostice to
add the submit button. This makes the design of complex forms a lot easier
but obviously it would be so much better to be able to do it all in Report
Builder. Is this possible in future development or is it likely to be a
    step too far?

    Regards

    Tim

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the feedback. We are always eager to know the features our
customers would like to see. I will add PDF form submission to our list
of possible features for a later release.
