New Blog Posts: Merging Reports - Part 1 and Part 2

Horizontal Printing

edited August 2001 in General
This was part of another posting of a different subject.

We are trying to create a report that has three types of information on it.
One type is Demographic the next is Contacts and finally (the problem)
Service area. Writing the Service Area data to a Memo component is one
method she is trying.

We are using subreports for the three elements. The problem with the
Service Area is that it is a columnar report the can have any number of
columns (States) and each column can have any number of details(Counties
within the State).

Currently the report reads like this:
State State State
County County County
County County County
County County County
County County County
County County County
County County County

We would like it to read:
State
County County County County County County

State
County County County County County County

State
County County County County County County

We are using Version 6.0, Standard Edition.

Using the ColumnTraversal property and setting the number of columns and
column positons, I was able to print out the columns Left toRight. The only
problem left is that it prints only one group per page even though the Start
New Page box is not checked off.

How can I get the groups to print continuously?

The current report engine doesn't support group functionality when the
detail band is set to a left to right column traversal. Left to right is
mostly used to support label printing, sorry.

However, when I create a report like this, the detail bands print
continously, never keeping together or starting a new page/column. Place
the State dbText in the detail band, and set it to SuppressRepeatedValues =
    true.
