Hard Access Violation

edited October 2001 in General
I use Delphi 5 and Report Builder Standard 5.53

I have found an Access Violation in dclrb55 when I drop a label on my
report, but all is ok if I drag and drop for example a Memo component.

To solve problem, I have:
- Cleaned corrupt Installation, following step after step Digital-Metaphors
instructions
- Uninstalled Delphi 5 and all external packages

A very strange thing is that this error doesn't occur when I open demo
projects and I edit their components; if I drag and drop a new ppReport
component on demo form, the Access Violation above occurs.

I'm going crazy, I urgently need some support.

Are your Report Builder components on a Data Module?

I have found that you get very regular access violations if you have the
report component on a datamodule. I put them on the form and everything is
    fine.

    Just curious.

Upgrade to RB 6 and Delphi 6, as the report/datamodule AV problem has been
    solved.

My ppReport component is on a form, not a DataModule !

I have read ALL message in this newsgroup so far, and this problem occurs to
many other people. I wouldn't update Dephi 5 and ReportBuilder 5.53 because
for my work they are satisfactory.

I'm sure that this installation is corrupt and I'm not able to restore it,
because some file or regkey still remains even if I'm following the right
    cleaning procedure.

    Thanks a lot for support

When the first label is dropped on the designer, the printer driver is
accessed to determine autosizing, and this may cause your av if there is a
problem talking to the printer. Make sure you have a default printer
    installed on the machine.
