why connect to the database is so slow in Designer

edited November 2001 in General
Hi,

I find the react is quite slow when I click a component in the Report
Designer first time. I notice the RB try to connect to the database and
should initializate sth of the report. But should RB pop up a msgbox to
tell what happen to the end-user or show the status in the statusbar. My
customer just complain about that.

Thanks

Tao

I'm not able to see any delay when I click on a component when the designer
is first opened. I put a stop in the create of my DADE plugin, and the
dataset isn't ever created from playing around in the designer. I also put
a dbPipeline on the form and it never opened the dataset either just by
launching the designer and clicking on a control in the report. Are you
using RB 6.02? Not sure why the data is being accessed from clicking in the
designer. If you break out the designer into a separate project where there
is only a form, designer, and report component, and then show the designer
at runtime from a button click, then do you still get the behavior?
