SLOW printing to dot matrix printers

edited July 2002 in General
I read the tech-tips on printing to dot matrix printers. I do not have any
graphics. All components are courier 10. I am just printing generic text.
How can I print the report like a DOS application (very fast)?

Thank you

If you've followed all the tips in the article there isn't much else you can
do to speed up printing. You could always print to a text file and then
print the text file which could be quicker. Don't forget also that the
report is regenerated when it is printed, so the actual report generation is
what could be adding to what seems like *slow* printing.

It seems like the report is printing in graphics mode. Is there a way to
    print it in text mode?
The report is printing each line very slowly so I don't think it has
anything to do with the report generation.

Make sure you're using printer fonts, though I would imagine courier 10
would be. If different fonts dont help you might have to try a different
    printer driver.

Check out http://www.waler.com/ -- specifically TExtraDevices 2.02. It
plugs into RB and can print directly to the printer port using printer
escape codes rather than the graphics drivers (not to mention PDF, HTML,
    Excel...). A very useful component.
