Getting a single group heading in a columnar report

I want to produce a report with 4 columns which are grouped.
Above the group I want the grouping field and some text. I want this to
appear once as a long single line across the whole line i.e. as one heading
above the group.

Is this possible or do columns force group headings to fit in a single
column?

I am using ReportBuilder 6.03 Enterprise.

I'm using Delphi 5 Enterprise with updates applied

You can do this by grouping in your main report, drop a subreport into the
detail band, and create columns within the subreport. This way you can
display the text across the entire columns span outside the context of the
columned report. Have the subreport traverse only the single detail record.
