I have a sub report and within it I am creating a group. I want to be able
to total sum of the columns in the group. The problem is the if I sum any
field the result is always 0. Count gives me the number of records ok but
sum does not appear to work under any circumstances. If it helps i'm using a
JIT pipeline.

Can you sum within the context of a simple report? That is, no subreports or
groups, to verify that you're using the DBCalc properly. If so than check
your ResetGroup property to make sure that is not set to something which
would cause it to reset itself to 0 when it is not supposed to be.
