Is valid datafield name required if using OnGetText?

On a ppDBText component, does the DataField property have to contain a
valid field name from the attached pipeline, if I am using am OnGetText
event to set the Text?

Would it be better to leave the Pipeline unassigned on this ppDBText
component?

If you're going for optimization here and do not intend to get the value
from a pipeline than don't use a DBText. Use a ppLabel or a ppVariable or
type String instead.
