How to read and search old RB Newsgroup postings

Is there anyway to read the RB newgroup posts from before August?

It may be an Outlook Express feature (or my error), but I was referencing
posts from back in April when the whole lot cleared. The only thing I could
do to get any RB posts was clear the NG from my PC and resubcribe. But now I
only have posts for August. ((

I am assuming that OE simply did some housekeeping for me. Meanwhile how can
I read the April posts? Some of them are even answers to things I want. I
have tried the Tamarack Associates search engine but it only seems to find
some entries.

I have been used to OE removing the tech-tips - a real nuisence, but reset
and resubscribing would download them again. This does not seem to work for
the other RB newsgroups. Those earlier posts are lost to me. No wonder the
same questions get asked over and over again!!!!

Anyone suggestions for a better newsreader? Suggestions of how I can read
the NG threads before August? And DM any chance of making the newsgroup
visible and searchable from your web site?

Please remove your news account and recreate it. This will force the
messages to be redownloaded. You can also delete you local news files
through the properties page of OE for a newsgroup.

What is getting me is that AFTER removing the account and recreating it in
OE like you both suggest I am still only seeing August's messages. Must be
a disk space issue somewhere I guess?

I have just done exactly what you say (on this NG), and lost the watches
etc. but it only downloads messages from 5th August. Maybe that is all that
is there now?? I know it sounds dumb, but where are the others? Is this
something my end or could it be the news server?

Tell me when you do it do you get earlier messages?

There should be messages from 11/16/1999. There is an option to only
download 300 headers at a time, so that may be limiting what you download.
Go into Tools | Options | Read | News and uncheck that option and see if
that helps.
