Outline question

edited September 2002 in General
Question about the new RB7 outline thingy...

Why does it show like this:

Abbbcustomer
Page 1
Abbccustomer
Page 1
Abcccustomer
Page 2

When all you can do is click the page number, and the *customer is
unclickable? Why would it not look like:

Abbbcustomer
Abbccustomer
Abcccustomer

And just let you click each customer? Or

Abbbcustomer (1)
Abbccustomer (2)
Abcccustomer (3)

Would save tons of screen space and acomplish the same thing?

Another question - where/how does the outline control decide what fields to
display? I understand you can change its display by coding an event, but
how does it decide on the default. Most of the time I just want to display
some field, so if I can just change the default, less code I have to write.

Set Report.OutlineSettings.CreatePageNodes to false in the object inspector.

The outline shows nodes for the main report, groups and section subreports
in that main report. Have you run the OutlineSettings dialog from the
report designer menu? It lets you controls which nodes get created.
