Downgrading to RB 6.03

edited October 2002 in General
Hi,
Because of the many problems with Report Builder 7.0 i would like to
downgrade to Report Builder 6.03.
Just reinstalling Report Builder 6.03 doesn't work. (Many packages are not
be loaded)

What is the correct way to deinstall RB 7.0 and install RB 6.03

I am very sad that RB 7.0 didn't work like RB 5.0-6.03

We would like to be able to reproduce the problem so that we can fix the
issue that you are encountering. You have not provided us with a demo
report showing the problem so that we can debug it to see what is the cause
of the error. You've said it is the second time printing to acrobat printer,
so I will try that. Can you send a report template to
support@digital-metaphors.com so that I can see your layout and create a
report similiar to yours using our own data.

You can downgrade to RB 6.03, but the problem won't go away. We would like
to resolve the issue so that you can use RB 7. In the meantime, you wish to
use RB 6.03. The RB 6.03 uninstaller will not uninstall the RB 7 packages.
You can follow the corrupt installation cleanup procedure in the
installation thread of the tech-tips newsgroup to make sure that you remove
all traces of RB from your computer. Then you should be able to cleanly
    reinstall RB 6.03.

    Gruber:

To follow up on what Jim stated, please provide DM with demos of what the
issues are--and this helps all of us. DM is very faithful in fixing bugs,
but it's impossible to fix "It doesn't work"

If I would get a dollar everytime a customer claimed : 'It doesn't work'
'What do you mean, doesn't work. The screen stays blank/black'
'No no, it works allright, but when I do this and that.....'

DM is always most helpfull, sometimes hard to reproduce the error outside of
your running projects, but the results are worth it.
The fixed my little bug in over a day or two.

I had a bug for over a year but it was difficult to isolate it. I finally
did at BorCon last year and showed Tom Ollar, who had it fixed before BorCon
    was over.

    Jim,

I have the same problem as Hans.

    1. I am in the print preview modal dialog.
    2. I choose the print dialog
    3. I choose another printer
    4. I print the report which prints OK
    5. And voil?, there is the access violation and the application freezes.
When there are only a few records in my table there is no AV but the
    application still freezes.

Hope to hear from tou soon.

I have sent a small application to demonstrate this to
    support@digital-metaphors.com

    Jim,

When I set the property 'ShowCancelDialog' to false all is fine, no AV, no
    freeze.

There is a patch to fix the problem with the cancel dialog causing an AV.
I'm sending you the patched unit via email.
