Dataset list is still empty

edited March 2003 in General
Report builder 7.01 for Delphi 7.

I have a problem with Dataset list in the DBChart series, it is always
empty. Why?

I'm using TeeChart 4.04 and I have tried two different data pipelines (BDE
and DB), but I still have an empty dataset list in the DBChart series. To
rule out an existing code problem, I started a new project and dropped all
new components onto a form, but the problem persists.......According to the
help file, TeeChart 4.04 is "Fully Operational," but it would seem that
something is still wrong.

From the RBuilder Help file (it was quoted on 2/19/03)
TeeChart 4.04
ReportBuilder 7 or later
Status: Fully Operational

TeeChart 5.03
ReportBuilder 7.01 or later
Status: Fully Operational

I realize that TeeChart is NOT owned by Digital Metaphors, but they aren't
making you look very good either. Digital Metaphors should considering
buying them out or developing their own charting abilities to prevent these
type of integration issues.

This is a mistake. It should be the same as the Delphi 6 topic for Teechart
4.04. It is partially operational. You will need to use Teechart 5.03 in
Delphi 7 until Teechart 6 support is released. We will be releasing Teechart
6 support in the next maintenance release.

I had the same problem with TDBChart. I use reportbuilder 7.1 and the
Dataset of the DBchart Series was always empty. They told me that I need to
get the Teechart Design time because the one I got is runtime only. In this
case, it is impossible to assign a Dataset to a DBchart during the design
time and I needed to do it during the runtime.
I think that's a weird problem and they shouldn't make difference between
    TChart runtime and Tchart designtime.
    It's all about money!

The TeeChart author did not include all of the units to TeeChart in the free
version included with Delphi. (TeeMach the authors of TeeChart do not
receive any money from Borland for the inclusion of TeeChart with Delphi).

When Teechart builds a version to be included in Delphi, there is no source
distributed for it and it is a one of a kind version of Teechart. Teechart
4.04 is partially operational in RB because we have yet to be able to get
Teechart to work inside RB inside of the Delphi design time environment.
Working inside of the Delphi design time environment is very different than
working at runtime, as a component writer that is:)

You can build with runtime packages to use the free version of Teechart at
    runtime in RB.

As an alternative, you can always use a DB Teechart on a form and export it
as an image and load it into a TppImage in the report dynamically.

Currently, there is support for 7 different versions of Teechart across
Delphi 5, 6 and 7. In the next release we will have 3 more to include
Teechart 6 support in RB for each version of Delphi 5, 6 and 7. The net
result is that 10 versions of Teechart are going to be supported in the next
    release of RB.
