Summary/Grouping Charts

edited April 2003 in General
Hi,

ReportBuilber v6.03
TeeChart v5.02

I am trying to create a Pie chart with groupings e.g.:
I have a table listing customers and car purchases. Each record contains
colour of car and amount spent. I want to have one pie slice per car colour
that must represent the average spent on that colour car for the entire
table. This would require some kind of summary/grouping to be set up on the
chart. I have been in communication with TeeChart people and they assure me
that this functionality exists on the DataSource tab of the chart setup
dialog, however there is no such thing on the the dialog presented by RB's
wrapper. Here is my last commuique with TeeChart:

Hi Gilbert,

If you are using Report Builder then I'm not sure the Report Builder
TeeChart TppChart will show this. You must be aware that the TppChart
component in Report Builder is *not* Steema component, but simply a wrapper
Digital Metaphors did for TDBChart. It's possible this control does not
inherit/use all TDBChart features. Check with Digital Metaphors if TppChart
together with TeeChart v5.02 or above supports summary grouping selectable
at design time (TDBChart does support it, but I don't know about TppChart).

Has this functionality been excluded from RB's implementation? If so is it
included in later versions? Or am i just looking in the wrong place?

    Gilbert,

Our wrapper class simply adds to the DataSource tab by inserting the option
to select a DataPipeline as the datasource, however this is the only way to
connect data to a TeeChart in a report. All other features in the
DataSource tab are not supported in reports. The only way to use these
features is to generate the chart on a form, save the image of the chart,
and dynamically load it to a section of your report at runtime using a
TppImage. See Ed Dressel's posts in the past for more information on this
    approach.
