Master-Detail problem while sorting the Master on a string-field containing special chars
Hallo,
I am working with RB 5.5, Delphi 5 (German), RAP, DADE, BDE, Paradox.
The paradox tables I am accessing from the DADE contain records, whose
string fields can contain special characters like german umlauts etc.
I have created a very simple master-detail report in DADE, sorting the
master table on such string field.
The problem I encountered was that the appropriate detail records were got a
very strange way, if the master record had a special char in the sorted
field. First I saw all the correct records and then a number of ones, which
actually belonged to quite other master records...
I checked the BDE language setting. It's ok.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

reindex your Paradox table (did you ever think about replacing that buggy "database"?)
HTH,
Chris Ueberall;
Thanks for the reply!
This error occurs even on tables that have no indexes at all. Besides, I
have checked the data integrity. As for the buggy paradox, we have been
developing our applications over 13 years with this database and therefore
we have to provide the reports for our existing data.
Some other ideas?
P.S. I could send you a test report and the tables, if you had time to
check.
Best regards

I have no time (I'm a developer ;-)) but send it anyway to my private email address (pls remove the NOSPAM part)
