subreport in header or summary holding detail rows of whole dataset.

edited April 2003 in Subreports
we have reportbuilder 5.5 enterprise with delphi 5..
what i want to do is to take two seperate reports, that are run against teh
same data.. and combine them into one report.. i have not managed to do this
with subreports yet.as i need to process one report on the whole dataset,
then the next on the same dataset. I am wondering if anybody can give me any
advice on how to do this ..

one way i've thought about is combining the reports together and using RAP
to hide all the groups of one report, then all the groups of the other
report, however i would need to be able to control the datapointer with RAP,
and i'm unsure whether i can do that.

there must be a simpler way though. probably using subreports. but i just
need a little bit of advice, and maybe a walk through

sincerely,

    Hi Karl,

I responded to your post in the Borland NG:

"Yes, I think you will want to use two subreports in an empty "driver-style"
main report. Save both reports to a report template file. Then create a new
empty report with two section style subreports (see the
Subreport.PrintBehavior property) in its detail band. Load the two templates
into their respective subreport. Then you can connect each subreport to the
same data pipeline/dataset. It should work because each subreport will
generate over the entire dataset and reset. Please see the main reports demo
project for reports #51 and 52 for an example of this style (two reports in
    one) with section subreports."
