Error reading template

edited October 2004 in General
On my development machine I am getting "Error reading template. Error
reading ppReport1.Device Type||: property does not exist" when I try to
open any rtm file created by our application running on any of the other
developer's PCs in this shop. All other developers have RB 5.53. I
recently upgraded RB to 7.04 on my PC. I am getting this error even if I
run an exe of our app compiled on one of the other PC using RB 5.53. I
can open the demo rtm files, at least most of them, okay. What could be
going on here?

    Hi Ron,

This is not a known issue. Are you loading these templates from a database?
If so, you BDE settings may have changed and this may be causing the error.

I am loading them from individual .rtm files throught the File | Open
menu. I don't think there are any setting changes and I don't see how
that could be anyhow since I get the error running the old application
EXE copied from another PC. Is there any DLL or Registry setting or
anything specific to one PC that would affect the behavior of RB on just
    this one PC?

    Hi Ron,

If possible, please send one of these templates in .zip format to
support@digital-metaphors.com and I'll take a look at it for you.

When you said "in .zip format" it dawned on me what the problem might
be, and it was! My coworker was emailing me the rtm files to test. They
were getting corrupted in the process. When I had him zip the files
    first it worked. Thanks!
