RB9 Installation of Help
Hi
I have installed RB9 with my fresh installation of Delphi 2005 on Win XP
Professional. Help has failed to install. After installation I was left with
a Command box with the line :
The default script host is now set to "cscript.exe".
Thereafter.... nothing. I have tried running RBInstallHelper manually with
the same result.
I hope that somebody, somewhere thinks this new help format is an
improvement over WinHelp, cos I think it is a disaster. Even the stuff with
Delphi 2005 is useless.
Any ideas how I can proceed?

During the installation process, ReportBuilder tries to run a number of
scripts that essentially merge the new ReportBuilder Help into the existing
Borland Help 2 namespace. If you by chance are running some virus
protection software that is stopping these scripts, or holding them up, you
may need to either install the help manually or reconfigure your protection
software to allow these scripts to run on you machine. I know that when I
installed with McAfee on my machine, it asked me if I would like to run
these scripts this time and I promptly clicked "yes".
If you run the RBInstallHelper from the command line instructions will be
displayed on how to control the application. For instance, typing the
command "RBInstallHelper MergeRBuilderHelp" will merge the standard
ReportBuilder help into the borland.bds3 namspace. If you have RB
Enterprise or Server, you will need to merge the other help files
separately.
If you ever find that your entire borland help system is missing or corrupt,
you can do a complete restore on it by running the "reghelp.exe" application
located in the \Borland\BDS\3.0\Help\Common\... directory. Running this
program from the command line will also give you instruction on how to use
it. I believe typing the command "reghelp 7" will completely restore your
borland help.
You're preaching to the choir on this one . I couldn't agree with you
more. We formatted our help to match the MSDN help style which we found was
partially usable. Let us know what you think.

I use Norton AV and had to disable Script Blocking. Then it all worked.
You have made a better job of the help than Borland have, although it needs
some tidying. In the TppReport class help there are lots of Events in the
Properties list and many duplications.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks for the feedback. I will have this fixed for the next mantainence
release.
