I need to sort by a calculated field in the dataset, this can't be done, the
caluclation is to complex to embed in the SQL. Therefore, I would like to

If you are using TExtraDevices you can check out the demo program which does
both of these things. The demo is at www.waler.com/download.htm

My (temporary) solution looks roughly like yours, but for my need, all is

Thanks Nico, already much better.
Now the header prints on page 1 with nothing else on the page, then
subreport2 on page 2 and subreport1 on page 3. Is it possible to let the
header appear on every page so I would get 2 pages w… -

You can use the ExportToStream procedure in the TXUtils unit to avoid
creating a physical file. An example of its usage is in the manual.

Hi Nico,
I have TExtraDevices so understand this is one way of exporting to a file,
and then loading into a TRichEdit, but was wondering whether there was away
to avoid the step of sending to a physical file.

Hmm - I thought I _had_ to close the pipeline in order to change the

I'll fiddle a bit more. It seems it I open it directly afterwards - I might

Nick,
Your suggestion fixed the problem we were having. Thank you very much for
your help in figuring this out. It is extremely helpful for my company to
have this issue resolved.

New Dawn Technol…Any suggestions at all? This is a major issue for our company right now, as
our customers cannot create reports for their data.
We are currently using ReportBuilder 7.03
I had to go the second way because I am printing to a modal window so the
ArchivePageCount wasn't available until after the preview window was closed,
which obviously was nout much use. Worked a treat though.
Thanks
Thanks Chunk.
That seems overly complicated just to get a page count! Hopefully the first
method will work for me.
Thanks
Hey Jeff!
I am assuming that you are using the TppArchiveReader for the archive
report. The TppArchiveReader has an ArchivePageCount property that will
show you the total page count but only AFTER you call the print method.

i used your app, but it doesn't work. I am using delphi6 and rb6.03.

So i think this i…The best way to do this according to me, is to make a calcfield on your
table or query.
for instance Field XXX = 'Dear' + ' ' + Name + ','
So you can select this field in your rb.
