Speed Issue

edited June 2006 in End User
I have an app that runs quite a complex report and produces around 190
pages.

If I run the report by clicking the Preview tab when in design mode the
report comes up immediately and the "Calcuating Page xx...." appears at the
bottom counting up in what seems batches of 9 or 10 pages.

If I however call the report from the Report Explorer and choose exactly the
same paremeters via and Auto Search dialog box I have to wait the best part
of a minute and a half before the report appears and the "Calculating
Page....." message appears..

Can you explain why please and how can I get the same performance from the
report Explorer?

Cheers

Mark

PS Still having no luck with IBO and data dictionary..

    Hi Mark,

Are you able to recreate this behavior using the Report Explorer demo
located in the \RBuilder\Demos\3. EndUser\1. Report Explorer\... directory?
Opening some of the autosearch reports is the same speed as opening them at
    design time in my testing.

I use our app and the sample End User Solution Project provided (Interbase
and BDE) and I get the same results.

I will use camtasia or something similar to create a flash movie if you like
to show you what I mean. Can I email that to you ?

    Cheers

PS Still cannot get the dictionary to work..

    Hi Mark,

In order to really see the behavior you are talking about and possibly fix
it, I will need a working example on my machine. I can tell you that there
is very little difference beteween previewing a report directly and opening
it from the report explorer. When you are loading reports at design time,
are you loading them from file? If so, this may be a DB access issue as it
may be taking longer to retrieve the template blob information.
