Error Attempting to create a new dataview without a data module assigned

edited May 2007 in End User
Hi,

We have used the end user reporting tools (Report Builder version 10.0)
to allow our users to create their own reports. If you select New Report
the system opens on the Report Page. Select the Data Tab and select New
and the Wizard dialog opens. Close it without selecting anything. Then
go to the file menu (under the data tab) and select New again. You will
get the following error?.

Error Attempting to create a new dataview without a data module assigned

Now if you click OK and try to go to New again it will keep giving you
the error.

To stop it giving you the error, you can do one of two things. You can
select the Report tab and ten return to the Data tab and then it will
open the wizard when you select New.

Alternatively, you have to close down our program AND close the Folder
window (if you don?t and open end-user program the error remains) and
then reopen everything again and it will work.

These workaounds seem a bit of a kludge to me. I would have thought the
program would be able to display the appropriate form again without
displaying the above error.

    Hi Tim,

Does this happen at design time or runtime? Which exact version of
ReportBuilder are you using? In my testing with RB 10.06 and Delphi 2007, I
was unable to recreate the error. Be sure you are using the latest version
of ReportBuilder. Contact info@digital-metaphors.com with your serial
number and purchasing email address for upgrade instructions.

This occurs at runtime (did not check design time). As for the version
number, this is based on the about box of report builder with own test
program of end-user report - so it is definitely 10.0. We are also using
Delphi 6. (Some of the components that we use are STILL not Delphi 2006
compatible.) I will also send email to info@ as you suggested for
    upgrade instructions.

    Tim
