"Screen printer does not allow printing"

edited November 2003 in General
Hi

We have an issue that sporadically affects users of our software. We use
report builder professional 6.03. Our users use either PCs or Macs, and the
macs use our software by connecting to a Citrix server. The citrix server
occassionally returns "Screen printer does not allow printing" when spitting
the report to screen. It doesnt happen with any consistency or logical
pattern we can find.

Any ideas

    Hello,

Even though ReportBuilder uses the specified printer driver to render
reports, if there is no printer attached to a computer, it will create a
virtual printer driver using the screen device to allow previewing only.
When this occurs and the user tries to print a report to a printer, the
message "Screen printer does not allow printing" is shown as a reminder that
you cannot print to a printer using the screen device as the default printer
    driver.

Be sure all your users have a printer installed on their machines, and that
the PrinterSetup.PrinterName is set to an actual printer rather than
    "Screen".

Thanks. Yeah I didnt expect there not to be a printer attached to the PC,
when reporting was one of its main uses...
