Next version of Delphi for WIN32

edited November 2003 in General
Hello!

I am considering upgrading my RB 6 Enterprise to the current version,
but I have some concerns regarding the upcoming next version of Delphi
for *WIN32*.

I have contacted sales@digital-metaphors.com but they couldn't give me
a satisfying answer. Maybe someone from Digital Metaphors with more
insight can help me:

I have no interest in ".Net" ! I only use WIN32 !

It looks like Borland will release some sort of "upgrade" for Delphi
*WIN32* next year.

Unfortunately Digital Metaphors deliver the RAP units only as DCUs,
which are compiler dependant. This is a great concern for me because it
is our company policy to only use 3rd party components with *full*
source code. It is difficult for me to tell our management that we have
to pay Digital Metaphors $549 each time Borland releases a patch or
upgrade of Delphi for *WIN32* !

Do I have to pay $549 again next year to get the RAP DCUs for the next
*WIN32* Delphi?

Regards
Wolfgang

There are currently two upgrade prices to RB 7 Enterprise - the standard
price is US $275 and the legacy price is US $549. Pricing for future
upgrades will be announced as more detail about the releases are known.

Digital Metaphors has not announced any pricing for ReportBuilder for
VCL.Net or the next release of Delphi for Win32. To my knowledge, Borland
has not announced a release date for for Delphi for Win32 nor have they
released architectural details. There are simply too many unknowns at this
    point.

    Thanks for supporting ReportBuilder.
