Calc on a Variable

Would it be possible to think of a kind of Calc variable that takes the sum,
average, .... of another variable.
I often must define a ppVariable in the detail on wich i make a sum at group
or summary level, with a DBCalc, on a db field it is easy, would it be
possible to provide a similar variable by default in RB.
