Error with RotatedLabel

edited September 2004 in General
Hi,

i am using the component from
http://www.digital-metaphors.com/rcl/bldctls.zip

We want to print labels which have
some text and the same text 180 deg. rotated.
As there is limited space we have set AutoSize to false.

One problem is that the rotated text is right-aligned and there is
no way to change that.

The bigger problem is that when the text to be displayed is bigger than
the place on the label, it starts to change position on the report.

Has anybody else tried to do something similar ?

    Hi Nenad,

This is a limitation of the RotatedText component.

I'm unclear about what is happening here. How is the position changing.
The Top and Left values should remain constant for the text control, even
though the text object is rotating.

It is on our to-do list to make text rotation native to ReportBuilder for
    the next major release.

    Hi, Nico

I had the same problem, at design time, let said, Rotated text is 90
degree, font is bold, drop a vertical line right beside the rotated text,
and locate the text in the center of the line, and when you take a look at
the preview and print, the rotated text is NOT located at the center of the
line, it is shifted for some reason.

    Hi William,

I tried what you described below and was unable to see the shift. Below is
a copy of the template I was using to test. What type of printer are you
using? If you can help me recreate this behavior, I can be sure the issue
will not be present if the feature is added in the next release of
    ReportBuilder. Thanks,

    Hi Nico,

For HP LaserJet 4 Plus, the preview is OK, but when prints out, the top
    value is changing too.

    Nico,

    any comments on that ?

I don't have the time to read through (& understand) the whole code,
could you give me some hints where the problem is probably happening ?

    Hi Nenad,

The RotatedText component was not created by Digital Metaphors and therefore
cannot be supported as well. The RotatedText component was created by a
user of ReportBuilder Artem Berman in order to enable text rotation for his
personal needs. We provide a link to this component on our web site as a
convenience to our customers who would like this capability in
ReportBuilder. However, currently text rotation is not a feature of
ReportBuilder. If I get a chance I will take a look at his code, but the
only thing I can guarantee is that this issue will not be present if text
rotation is added natively to ReportBuilder.
