Automated Archive printing - D6 RB10.4

edited September 2006 in General
Hi

The business model for the application we are developing requires certain
reports (business documents that go to clients - we distinguish them by
calling them documents) are stored for future reference. So if an Invoice is
produced that invoice prints (which is fine and this works) and is also
stored in a file for later reference.

My question is can the archive print be completely automated without a need
to go via the print dialog. In this way the user never forgets to do a copy
the program takes care of it.

As far as I can see the Print method calls the preview, print dialog as
required but I cannot see if there is a silent method I could use.

I have looked at the archive output and this would be ideal as it keeps the
formatting exactly as the original whereas PDF production seems to degrade
the output and sometimes loses lines at the end of the page. The archive
reader is also excellant for retrieval.

regards
Andrew

This example shows how to automatically create an archive when the user
prints the report to the printer...
