Columns over running page width

edited February 2007 in General
Hopefully a simple one.

The problem i have is that the columns from a sub report overrun the end of
the page. The only way i can correct this is to set the sub report to
"Parent Width", then it works correctly by then moving onto next page after
last column.
I cannot use "Parent width" as this would overwrite the label field column,
i need the sub report to be 3/4 of the width of the page but to work
correctly and not place the last column half off the page.
Is this possible, i tried ticking right clicking on the sub report and
choosing "fixed" but then the data disapears from the report.

    Hi Stuart,

Be sure that the boundaries inside the subreport design coencide with the
boundaries you set for it in the main report. If these do not match up, you
will either have missing components as you do with your fixed subreport
(which is what I recommend you use) or you may have behavior where data is
    overflowing.

Hi and thanks for the reply, not 100% sure by what you mean with boundries
in the sub report, am very new to this so on a steep learning curve at
moment, currently the sub report it divided into columns, 6 to be exact.
If i used fixed i take the tick out of parent width, resize the width of the
subreport on the main page then tick fixed. Is this correct?
This is the point at which the data vanishes. Not sure what i need to check
on the subreport to make it work.

    Hi Stuart,

If the subreport component on the main for for instance is 5 inches wide,
but the columns inside the subreport (subreport design) span out 6 inches,
one full inch is going to be cut off when you print the report. Using the
ruler at the top of the designer, you need to be sure no components fall
    outside the initial size restriction
