Embedding Word docs
Hi.
I have a Delph 7 application using RB. I am using TRich View with Report
builder. I have a problem that my user is now pasting pictures into the RTF
docs, and this is resulting in a huge bloat of the Documents. Typically a
350KB JPG file bloats a 1 K RTF file to 12.5 Mb.
For many reasons this is very problematic for me.
Conversly, a Word DOC supports JPEG propperly, and there is no bloat.
My question is, does the group know of a component set I could use to
replacce TRichView. I would require a RB Word component, and a Word view
control for forms. I would need to upport Office 2003 - up.
Any alaternative sugestions to this problem would be most wellcome.
Many thanks in advance,
Tony

We do not know of any components that allow the embedding of Word documents
in a report. Perhaps someone with similar experience will chime in.
One option would be to find a way to export a Word doc or RTF to a MetaFile
image. This could then be displayed in a TppImage component.

documents. It works very well and the sizes are not too large. I instruct
users to keep the graphic in jpg or something small. Occassionally they
will scan an intire page and save the bmp which is really large.
I like the rich view approach because RB handles the page breaks and
everything correctly. You can see a sample output at the following:
