EndUser Demo and Asta

Hi

I have RB6.03, Asta 3.02, Delphi 5 and Sybase 5.5, I am trying to get the
EndUser Demo to work. I can create a new folder, design a report but when I
try to save the report I get an exception error EDatabaseError with message
"NoAstaClientSocket or it is not connected!". Then I cannot get out of the
Designer.

Anyone any ideas what I have missed.

Is the ASTA client socket connected-I assume it is but there must be another
part of the data access component configuration that is causing the problem.
Do you have only one client socket? We'll need more information to figure
this out. Are you using the ASTARBDemo project available from ASTA? I have
it running with ASTA version 2.6 for RB 6.03. Haven't used ASTA 3.0 yet,
but it should work the same. Download this from ASTA if you haven't
already. Get the demo working then try to compare it against your end user
project.

Hi Jim

I should of check this newgroup first, Simon Callcott had the same problem a
week ago and solved it by adding another AstaClientSocket and attaching the
folder and items tables to it.

No problem, glad to hear it is working. FYI, There was also a master detail
DADE linking fix in the DADE daASTA plugin. I made a post about it in the
DADE newsgroup on 7/19/2002.
