Limited number of calculated fields allowed???

edited May 2003 in End User
Hello,
In ReportBuilder 7.02 - Data - Calc, I have used some calculated fields, of
type
"Expression". At this point, they add up to 10.
The minute I have tried to enter the 11th expression, ReportBuilder returns
the following error:
"ORA-00979 - Not a GROUP BY expression"

I noticed, that when I double-click a field from the top panel, it goes in
the lower panel as a default function "Sum". This fills my "GROUP" tab lower
panel with all the fields in my pipeline. Normally, when I select
"Expresion" istead of "Sum", the GROUP list would be emptied, but at the
11th calculated field it does not! So, ReportBuilder expects me to enter a
Group function keyword (sum, avg, min, etc... ), which I do not intend to!

My question, I suppose, is if this is an already diagnosed problem,
something like "a maximum of 10 calculated fields "or if
I'm doing something wrong!!! And why doesn't the GROUP panel empty, when I
select "Expression", as it normally does???

Thanks in advance
Mirto

    Mirto,

After extensive research, I was unable to recreate the issue you are having.
I am using ReportBuilder 7.02 with an Oracle 9i database and DOA to connect.
I used the script provided in the ReportBuilder install to create the
necessary tables and triggers on the database and using DADE, successfully
created a Dataview with 12 expression type calculations on a test table that
I created prior. ReportBuilder is adding any other fields I've selected in
the GROUP BY section automatically if I choose them, even if I have already
defined over 10 expressions. Please provide more information on exactly how
I can recreate this problem using a list of steps, screenshots or small
example. Thanks again for your patience.
