Custom QueryView with Params

edited February 2004 in End User
Hi,

We've been evaluating several report editors and found that the report
editor that suits us best is Report Builder. But, we have a dilemma. We
need to be able to use queries with parameters and queries with stored
procedures(which also requires parameters). If it ends up that there would
be no way of performing this task, then we definitely will need to
reevaluate our options.

The question is: Is it possible to create a custom query/data view that can
use parameterized queries and that the parameters for the queries be
assigned via the auto search fields? And, yes I did look at the autosearch
demos, but we need a solution for the end-user.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Thanks for your interest in ReportBuilder.

Check out RBuilder\Demos\EndUser\Custom DataViews examples of defining
custom dataviews. For an overview of the DADE architecture, read the
articles in the DADE thread of the Tech Tips newsgroup.

A DataView class acts as the container for the data access objects (DataSet,
DataSource, DataPipelnie). A dataview can contain one datapipeline or
multiple datapipelines. This is shown in the custom dataview examples.

Thanks for the feedback. This is something that we can work on creating.

We have a heavy work load and limited resources, therefore we may not be
able to create something immediately, but can work on it going forward as
    time allows.
