parameters in report
hi all,
i posting something like this before but i cannot find the original message
and i have some new data. I have a stored procedure that i have to pass in
parameters into. I am using version 7.02 and do not have Delphi. I havce to
ask for the year and the month from the user but i cannot find any settings
that will let me do this. I have tried the things that were suggested to me
from the last post but i think that they were for a later version than the
one i have. the data part of the report gets the date fine (i have hard
coded the parameters in for the time being). in the layout side of things i
have 3 tabs, the first one is calc but in the help file that i downloaded it
is called something else, the name escapes me right now, and using the
wizards etc do not give me the option to create custom queries to ask the
user for the information. i hope that i have explained everything fully,
please let me know if you need more data.
Cheers

ReportBuilder currently does not natively support Stored Procedures. It is
possible to create a custom dataview to enable this type of dataset. Are
you using a registered version of ReportBuilder or an application that has
ReportBuilder built-in?

Its a program that has ReportBuilder built in. i can specify the data
section seperately, either an SQL statement that i type in or a stored
procedure. this returns the data fine as when i am in the layout section,
this is where i see ReportBuilder itself, i can see the data returned and
group it etc.

Please understand that Digital Metaphors can only provide tech support to
the Delphi developers that purchase ReportBuilder. Digital Metaphors
receives no distribution royalties from Delphi developers that embed
end-user reporting solutions in their applications. It is the responsibility
of the software publishers that sold you the product to provide you with
tech support.
There is an end-user tutorial called Learning ReportBuilder that can be
downloaded from our web site for free. See the following article for more
infomation.

Article: Learning ReportBuilder
--------------------------------
Learning ReportBuilder is a complete learning system designed to teach end
users how to build a range of reports. This system includes a 125-page PDF
file, a stand-alone application complete with a database, and a help file.
The PDF file is comprised of a series of tutorials that step end users
through the process of building reports as simple as a table listing and as
complex as crosstabs. The tutorials also introduce conceptual aspects of
report building along the way. The application is used in conjunction with
the tutorials so that the learning experience is interactive. The end user
just prints out the PDF file, runs the application, and learns
ReportBuilder. The help file is accessible from the application, so all
three tools work together to provide a seamless learning environment.
Learning ReportBuilder installs into C:\Program Files\LearnReportBuilder.
When the system has successfully installed, a complete set of instructions
appears in the form of a 'ReadMe' doc, so the end user knows just what to do
upon installation.
