Report Builder does not fully convert report contents into a "report emulation text file"

edited October 2005 in Devices
Problem:

First line of a dbmemo field that is below a subreport or another dbmemo is
not being saved in the "report emulation text" file. Note: it is properly
displayed when previewing and printing the report.

Detail Report Background information:

Label 1, 2, 3 and Subreport 1 and Subreport 2 are on top of Region 3.

Subreport 1 is on top of region 1 and placed on the upper left of the detail
band..

Subreport 2 is on top of region 2 and placed on the upper right of the
detail band.

Both subreport 1 & 2 and Region 1 and 2 have the same top setting.

Region 1 and Region 2 are on top of Region 3.

Both dbmemo fields' stretch property is set to true.

Region 6 (which contains a dbmemo field) is set to shift relative to Region
1. (I have

tried various combinations without a successful result such as:

Shift relative to Region 3 or shift relative to subreport 1.)

Region 7 (which contains a dbmemo field) is set to shift relative to Region
2. (I have tried various combinations also without a successful result such
as:

Shift relative to Region 3 or shift relative to subreport 2. As a last
resort (as seen in the sample output below), I even placed the 2 memo fields
on the left side with the dbemo field containing symptom comments above the
dbmemo field containing request comments) and this time the file did not
contain the first line of request comments.

Why does the full content of the dbmemo fields properly display on

1) the report preview

2) the report printout when printing to a laser printer or

3) the report printout when printing to a generic text
printer to a dot matrix printer

and fails by losing the first line of a dbmemo field content (can be either
the dbmemo field for symptom or request comments) when the device is a
generic text printer and print to file is checked, type of file is "report
emulation text file"?

Your assistance in resolving this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Sample output:

SYMPTOMS (label 1):
WORK REQUESTED (label 2):

%17 (label 3)

13Hard starting (Subreport 1 dbtext field1)
94Get ready for season (Subreport 2 dbtext field 1)

Symptom Notes (Region 6 label 1):

Hey line 1 of symptom comment (Region 6 dbmemo1)

Line 2 of symptom comment (Region 6 dbmemo1)

Line 2 of 2 for request comments (Region 7 dbmemo1 - this is missing the
first line of the memo field)

Detail report output should be (see sample below).

When it the report is previewed, report builder displays it properly (as
shown below). However, when it is converted into a

1) report emulation text file

2) saved to a file

3) when using notepad to view the file, it is missing the first line of
Region 7's dbmemo1.

SYMPTOMS: WORK REQUESTED:

%17

13Hard starting 94Get
ready for season

Symptom Notes:

Hey line 1 of symptom comment

Line 2 of symptom comment

Line 1 of 2 for request comments

Line 2 of 2 for request comments

Original (desired) layout:

SYMPTOMS: WORK REQUESTED:

13Hard starting 94Get
ready for season

Hey line 1 of symptom comment Line 1 of 2 for request
comments

Line 2 of symptom comment Line 2 of 2 for request
comments

    Hi Karen,

As a test I created a simple report with a subreport and a DBMemo. The
subreport was above the DBMemo which was set to stretch and shiftrelativeto
the subreport. After exporting this to a Report Emulation Text File the
entire memo was displayed in the text file as expected. If possible please
create a simple example such as this one that demonstrates the issue and
send it in .zip format to support@digital-metaphors.com and I'll take a look
    at it for you.
